One week until con!
We are in pretty good shape, thanks very much to all the behind the scenes
assistance from so many people. What's left?
-- Tonight is the final pull from Zambia for publication data before con.
What that means is that after 9 PM tonight, we need to handle Zambia changes
in a different way, as they will all need to be reported in the newsletter.
Description and title changes are simply too late to get printed. Even more
than ever, if you change anything in zambia after tonight, send mail to
program. If someone wants to step forward and collect items for the first
newsletter, that would be appreciated.
-- Lisa Holsberg has enabled a page where we can set up discussion forums on
the Arisia website. Great panels can engender good post-con discussion as
well. In order to make this work, we need to prepopulate a set of topics so
that there's one for each panel. You'll need edit access to Drupal to help
out with this, and I have directions from Lisa. We'll publicize this to
panelists by email and by including a reminder in the program packets.
-- Packets for program participants! Packets for program participants will
be assembled this weekend. There's a bunch of printing and collating and
stuffing; many hands make light work, as they say. The where and when of
that will be in a followup mail.
-- Program Ops hours:
Fri 3 pm to 9 pm
Sat 9:30 am (or so) to 6 pm
Sun 10:30 am (or so) to 2 pm (or we're cleaned up)
In addition to the office, we plan to staff a table to hand out program
packets to people as they get registered, at least Friday night and perhaps
Saturday as well. Email to Jeff Warner (jlwarner at together.net) what shifts
you're up for taking.
-- Signs:
What should we have for signs? What do we need for signs? Reply here with
thoughts.
-- Program A/V:
Most of the projector-wrangling is covered, we need to check the schedule
again to make sure.
Please take care of yourselves and come to the con ready to enjoy as well as
work. Right around now, sometimes it's hard to remember that this is
supposed to be fun. In the end, we will be proud of what's been
accomplished.
thanks to everyone again,
Rachel Silber
