[ST] [SA] Staff Den access policy...

My two cents...

I don't use the Staff Den because I have access to the Green Room as a Panel
Participant. I think people who contribute their time and efforts in
whatever measure -- assuming it's not a sham just to get the perqs -- have
earned the thanks of the con through these efforts. My hat is off to the
people who make them possible.

I love Arisia because a lot of people do incredible work to throw this
weekend event for fandom. I'm glad my own small contribution is appreciated
but I am in awe of the people who make planning and running Arisia one of
their major leisure time activities. And so I don't begrudge anyone the
peanut buttter sandwich, ramen soup, warmed up lasagne, bagels, soda,
coffee, or whatever refueling they need to get them through the convention.

The Staff Den, like the Green Room and the Gopher Hole, are thank yous to
people who are doing this because they *want* to give something to fandom,
not because they're looking to scam the convention.

>From con chair to coat check, from security to program ops, from the
masquerade lighting crew to the people at registration, these are the people
who let us all have fun for a weekend every January. In the absence of any
evidence of serious abuse, I say thank you and enjoy your meal. You earned
it.
