The program process is beginning! (Actually, it already began, but
you haven't missed much.)
This means that the brainstorm list is back in the game. For those of
you who are not aware, you can join the brainstorm list at
http://arisia.org/mailman/listinfo/brainstorm.
If you want to submit some ideas but don't want to join the high
volume email list, you can send it to brainstorm at arisia.org
If email lists are not your style, there is also a brainstorm Live
Journal called
<http://community.livejournal.com/arisiaprog08/>arisiaprog08. Both
the Live Journal and the email list will be used to brainstorm. The
idea here is that two channels will generate more diverse ideas than
just one. You are welcome to join both if you are really excited
about programing. Of course, if you are that excited, you should
contact me, and I can put you to work, sharing with your some of the
heady power of the Program Division *lightning flashes in the background*.
How long will this brainstorming go on? You may be wondering. I'm
glad you asked. Here's the whole Program timeline:
Today: Brainstorming begins
August 1st: Start formally recruiting panelists and getting their
info updated in Zambia
September 1st: Final Warning for closing brainstorming process
September 10th: Close brainstorming process, open panel selection to panelists
October 1st: Panelists done requesting panels
November 7th: Antepenultimate schedule sent to participants for
review, pre-preliminary pubs cut sent for review
December 1st: Participant comments integrated into schedule.
Preliminary pubs cut sent.
December 15th: Pubs comments integrated into schedule. Final pubs cut sent
December 16th to con: Walking in a winter wonderland... or doing all
the stuff that didn't get done before (depending on how effective we are)
By now, you are probably thinking that this whole program process is
(choose one: fascinating, sexy, exciting, irresistible) and want to
know how someone could possibly be so lucky as to be a part of it.
It's not luck. All you have to do is ask. Just drop me a line, and
I'll be happy to find a place for you in the fast paced and exciting
world of Arisia Programing.
Thank you for reading, and have a great Fourth of July (Have a good
second and third as well).
