I'm glad someone mentioned "branding".  That general image has been
associated with Arisia since the beginning, and it would be a grave
error to radically change it.

However, this is a good opportunity to *simplify* it, changing the
exact detailing and how it's presented, without changing the basic
round-thing-with-wings idea.  Make it easier to draw, print, render,
etc.  Get someone to GIMP up a different version of the same thing,
cause the original artist's pointless rants to become immediately
irrelevant, and move on.  Think of it like the "dot-comifying" process
that many other corporate logos underwent fairly recently -- many of
those designs became simpler than their earlier counterparts, even
though they all took on a similar rounded "swoosh" sort of look.
