[ST] Fwd: Off Topic: Vet recommendations solicited [Metro-Boston area]

Short version: I've adopted my mother's cat, and the cat isn't fixed.
Seeking recommendations on vets near the Arlington MA area, accessible
by mass transit or fairly cheap cab ride who performs spaying procedures.

Longer, ranting version:

My mother, who is moving to GA from NY real soon now, didn't want to try
to transport the cat, who HATES the cat carrier, on a 3 day trip to GA.
So, instead of putting the cat down, I adopted it. Yea!

My mother, in all of the 37 years I've been alive, is absolutely
RELIGIOUS about spaying / neutering our pets; they've all been taken in
as strays, and we don't want to contribute to the overpopulation of
pet-animals with no homes.

So imagine my surprise when, while describing how as soon as I have the
cat in my house for the last week and noticing that there are several
cats now nosing around when they never have before, my mother tells me
"Oh, she was never fixed."

For Crying Out LOUD, isn't that a particularly salient point to make to
someone who is adopting your animal??? I think my mother's getting
Alzheimers. and she's barely 19 years older than me. ::sigh:: I can
look forward to this lack of ability in 20 years or so?

grumble.

Thank you for your recommendations.
